Saudi Pro League 2024 – record-breakers and history-makers

The Saudi Pro League records in 2024 hint at a power on the rise from the desert. Can we believe that very soon the top division of football in Saudi Arabia will become one of the top five domestic competitions in the world?

Well, based on the records set there this season we can see this happening sooner than many expected. Many continue to overlook the Saudi Pro League as one of the top football divisions in world football. However, the Saudi Pro League records listed below paint a different picture for those who look closely.

Saudi Pro League – Al Hilal the unstoppable Blue Wave keep on winning

Al Hilal are almost certain to reclaim the Saudi Pro League title in 2024 after in early March they set a new world record. The Saudi champions for three of the last four seasons Al Hilal became the first team in the top-tier football leagues in the world to record 31 consecutive wins in all competitions. No other team has ever recorded more than 27 consecutive league wins, so Al Hilal already left this old record far behind. This run is still live and ongoing with Al Hilal determined to increase the count further.

Saudi Pro League – Cristiano Ronaldo the greatest goalscorer that has ever lived

We all know what a goal machine Cristiano Ronaldo is. He holds the record for the most international goals, the most hat-tricks, the most goals with headers, the only player to score over 800 goals in his career, and so on and so on.

It seems the 39-year-old Ronaldo has no plans to break scoring records left and right. Earlier this season he surpassed the 68-year-old record of Josef Bican for the most goals at club level in top flight matches. Bican scored 526 goals during the period 1931-1955.

However, with his brace during an Al Nassr match in November Ronaldo went up to 527 goals and since then he’s moved close to the 550 mark. If CR7 continues to play, as we all expect him to, he soon will become the first footballer in world history with over 600 career top-flight goals for his clubs.

Saudi Pro League 2024 – will there be three different players to make history

Never before in the history of top-flight football in the world, we’ve had more than two players in the same season have a 1.00 or better goal-to-game ratio, this is valid for players that played in at least 10 league matches in a season. Yet, the 2024 Saudi Pro League season could easily break this record with a trio of lethal strikers on track.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s Saudi Pro scoring record

The legend Cristiano Ronaldo continues to break all kinds of records even at age 39. At the moment of writing, Ronaldo has scored 23 goals in just 22 Saudi Pro appearances. CR7 is always hungry for records and we can see him hunting goals in every match he plays.

Talisca’s Saudi Pro scoring record

The next player on track to have an amazing season is Ronaldo’s teammate at Al Nassr Talisca. The Brazilian striker currently has scored 16 goals in 17 Saudi Pro matches. He’s nursing an injury right now but is expected back before the end of the season so he too will be keen to get his goal-to-game ratio up to at least 1.00.

Aleksandar Mitrovic’s Saudi Pro scoring record

The last goal machine currently playing in the Saudi Pro League we’ll talk about is the Serbian giant Aleksandar Mitrovic. The main target-man for the unstoppable Al Hilal has 20 goals in only 21 appearances and he too is chasing history.

Could it be possible for us to witness a trio of players average 1.00 goal-per-game in the same league in the same season for the first time in football history?
